.
I’m not a holiday person. But when I read about a Balinese hair ritual, I couldn’t stop thinking about it…
.
I’ve never been the “holiday type” No dreams of palm trees, sunbeds, or sipping drinks out of coconuts. My dream? To experience something fully, touch it, dive in deep – and then bring back something valuable for you.
.
So when I heard about a Balinese hair cleansing ritual, I got completely hooked.
.
Hooked so far, in fact, that before I knew it, I had booked a flight for June to find out if what I imagined matches the real thing.
.
Because if I get the chance to travel across the globe and come back with something that might make your life more peaceful, beautiful, or inspiring – I’m not scared of a 20-hour flight.
.
Even if I have to sleep standing up between the seats.
.
🌿 The Balinese Ritual That Got Me: Creambath
.
Let me tell you what caught my heart and imagination.
.
One of the most beloved haircare rituals in Bali is the Creambath. It’s not just a treatment – it’s a full-on ceremony.
.
Here’s how it goes:
– A woman sits or lies down with her head resting in a bowl or on a cushion
– A rich cream (made of coconut, avocado, or aloe vera) is massaged into her scalp
– The head is wrapped in a warm towel or exposed to gentle steam
– Hair is then gently combed through and rinsed
– Finally, it’s air-dried or tied in a loose bun
.
But the real magic?
The rinse water is infused with jasmine petals, frangipani, and lemongrass.
Women often sit peacefully with bowls of fragrant water, rinsing their hair with full attention and intention.
.
You hear the breeze, soft bells, birds.
This isn’t a salon – it’s sacred space.
A place of calm, touch, and mindfulness.
.
Of course, I already found a professional L’Oréal mask that’s used in this ritual – but it’s not available in the UK.
Which clearly means… it must be special.
And I have to try it.
.
💫 My Mission in Bali
.
I’m setting myself a goal: to find the oldest hair salon on the island and see with my own eyes what I’ve only read about so far.
I want to talk to the locals, ask them: why do you do this? What does it mean to you? How many people still practice it?
And if it truly works – I’ll bring it back.
Even if I have to fly home strapped to the wing of the plane.
.
But wait, there’s more!
.
At the end of June, I’m attending the Bali Wellness & Beauty Expo – an international fair where nature meets modern innovation.
I’ve already registered.
.
What am I hoping for?
New ideas, clean beauty, botanical knowledge, authentic local products – and maybe a few gems I can one day offer in my shop.
You can check out the official https://baliwellness.co.id/ for more info.
– take a look and feel the vibe with me.
.
📹 Who’s Coming With Me?
I’ll be traveling with Małgosia – and I hope she’ll help me film everything we discover. No sun loungers and piña coladas here – not our kind of holiday.
I’ll be the scooter driver (yes, please cross your fingers), taking us through temples, villages, back streets.
There’s one place I must visit:
Tirta Empul, the Temple of Holy Water.
.
💧 Cleansing Ritual at Tirta Empul
.
This temple started calling me the moment I discovered it.
.
Picture a stone pool with 13 sacred fountains flowing from carved spouts. Locals and visitors enter the water, go from fountain to fountain, immerse their heads, whisper intentions or prayers, and move on to the next.
.
It’s a ritual of letting go – of stress, heavy thoughts, and the past.
.
Yes, I’m going to do it.
Even if the water is freezing.
Even if I look like a wet chicken.
Because I’m not going there to look good.
I’m going to feel something real.
.
🙈 What Will It Look Like?
.
Don’t expect polished footage or perfect hair. I’ll be in my full explorer mode: touch it, feel it, remember it.
My look will be the least of my priorities.
If all goes well, I’ll upload everything to my YouTube channel – no promises, but I hope to take you along. At least a little bit.
.
So – girls, are you up for a virtual adventure with me?
.
Bali is calling, and I’d love to show you what I discover. Even if it’s just for a moment – I hope you’ll feel that magic too.
.
With love,
Iga
